▷▷▷▷ Polar T31 Non-Coded Transmitter and Belt Set Review

I had to buy a replacement transmitter for my Polar heart rate monitor because I must've not read the fine print that said dry off the transmitter when not using.Sweat moisture activates the transmitter that drains down the non-replaceable battery.I failed to dry the unit when I quit exercising, so the battery ran down quickly -- about 10x quicker than expected. Not too bright of me considering I have an advanced degree in engineering. So I'm telling you all now.

BTW, the new one works fine.No problem.

Product Description
Polar Chest Strap and Transmitters sold as a set.

▷▷▷▷ Polar Cadence Sensor Kit Review

Just got this to go along with a S720i heart rate monitor. I found it very easy to install, and very easy to integrate with the heart rate monitor. It adds a nice bit of information to the data being tracked, and I love being able to download it to the Polar software on my PC. Most of the training guides that I've seen recommend keeping your cadence in certain areas, this sensor helps you keep an eye on it without having to manually count. If you're using the software, you can also look back at older training sessions and see how far into your exercise your cadence started to lower (due to getting worn out) or how long you were able to maintain the proper cadence. Compare that to how you just did and see how much you've improved. From what I've heard, over time you can get a 'feel' for whether you're in the right cadence range or not, but until that time this sensor makes a great addition to the heart rate monitor. Easy to install, easy to use, no problems.

Product Description
Designed for the cycling enthusiast, crosstrainer, advanced exerciser or athlete. The Polar Cadence sensor kit is compatible with Polar S-510 and S-720 heart rate monitors.

▷▷▷▷ Polar F55 Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Bronze Rock) Review

I love the F55.It allows me to schedule resistance exercise along with cardiovascular exercise, can test my fitness level and let me know if I need to ramp up or ease up on my workouts. It is a great HRM.But I absolutely HATE the website to which the data gets downloaded. The software that Polar sells for their very high end HRMs not only is not included with the F55, it cannot be used with the F55.You cannot download the F55 data to use in other programs like Ultra Coach either.

I am ok with the idea of paying extra for the Polar software or even for having to buy a third-party program. In fact, I was able to use Ultra Coach with my old Polar S410 HRM.The S410 had a sonic interface to Ultra Coach and it was hideous. Most of the time the connection would not be made and if, on your fourth or fifth try, you accidentally hit the wrong button, you would lose all of your data. The F55 has an infra red interface that is much better.

You can create a custom resistance exercise workout, like, for example, bench press x 2 sets, curls x 1 set, etc.You create this on the website and upload it to your F55.When you are in the gym, you simply press a button when you begin the set and press it again at the end. When you have finished the number of sets for that exercise, it moves on to the next one.

But the website is cumbersome and slow. The marketing material mentions that you can use their website, but they do not go out of their way to mention that there is no other possibility. For a $200 HRM and a $60 infrared interface, I at least want the ability to download the HRM files as text or csv files and read them in Excel or, as I mentioned, import them to Ultra Coach, PC Coach, or some other software.

I could have spent $360 to get another HRM complete with the Polar software, but that would have been a cycling or running monitor with no resitance training workouts programmed in.The F55 is what I wanted even if I had an unlimited budge.

Oh well, to sum up a long-winded rant: LOVE the HRM and HATE the website.

▷▷▷▷ Polar WearLink+ Coded Transmitter and Belt Set (Medium-XX-Large) Review

I bought this transmitter because I did not know that the Polar Heart Rate Monitors came with a transmitter included in the box. I could not find anything that specified this, so I ended up purchasing an extra transmitter.

That being said, this transmitter is super comfortable. The rubber model that comes with the heart rate monitors does not have any comfort issues over this one. The electrodes are sewn inside the fabric of the strap, and they are soft. The only hard piece on this is the plastic transmitter part that is not that big in the front. If you are doing something that involves a lot of body motion, like aerobics, tennis, dance or lifting weights, this fabric model is a better alternative to the rubber model. This fabric strap transmitter might also be a better option for women, who may already be dealing with an underwire bra at the gym.

As far as functionality goes, you won't really need a coded transmitter unless you are using the HRM in a crowded environment where EVERYONE is using monitors. Like at my gym, where the personal trainers sell the Polar brand of HRMs, hold weekly training classes about them, and encourage everyone to buy them. If you don't find yourself in this type of environment, but you find the regular transmitter to be uncomfortable, than this is for you. If the regular transmitter does not hurt you, then you don't really need this.

One problem with this transmitter is the clip mechanism that you use to snap it shut. The little plastic points that clip in look like something I am going to break in about a month.Everytime I snap it open or closed I feel like I'm breaking it.

Product Description
The Polar WearLink transmitter combines superior Polar technology with a new fabric design. The electrodes, which pick up the heart's signals, are engineered right into the fabric strap. The result is a superior fit for any individual body shape, providing revolutionary comfort and full freedom of movement. The transmitter's textile strap is removable and machine washable. Its clip-on mechanism ensures quick and easy wear, and the belt is easy to put on and take off.

Polar's coded technology ensures that the user picks up only their heart signal, and not the signal of another heart rate monitor nearby. With millions of HRMs in use today, there's a good chance that someone working out next to you may also have one on. Interference from any other HRM is now eliminated and an accurate signal is ensured.
