"Calloway Edge are Excellent Clubs" 2010-07-02

I purchased the full set of Calloway Edge Irons including the 3 and 4 hybrid clubs. I do not have any of the fairway woods or the driver however, so I cannot comment on those.I have been playing golf for a number of years with a starter set and decided to spring for a quality set of improvement clubs. So far I am extremely pleased. My old set were graphite shafts and I decided to go with steel to help me get more accurate with distances. This has led to a bit of a learning curve with the new clubs. However, even with a my lower clubhead speed, I am hitting the Diablo Edge Irons farther. I am hitting at least ten yards farther with the 8 and 9 Irons, and 20 to 50 yards farther with the lower irons and hybrids. The clubs are forgiving, and when I hit them right (more and more often as I get used to them)they soar straight and long!
I have already taken 4-5 strokes off my average round and find that when I miss, I miss due to alignment or swing problems, not because of the clubs themselves. I recently missed a shot left and my friend commented that I hit the ball straight, just where my feet were aiming! The quality of Calloway is obvious in construction, and they are handsome to look at. I highly recommend these clubs.

Hmm, looks like I am the first Amazon review of these clubs! So let me cut to the chase: these Diablo Edge irons are awesome. Very forgiving, high and straight, and fun to hit. These are game improvement irons, and so naturally they do look a little clunky... but at address the top line is not too distractingly thick, and any reservations about the appearance will be gone as soon as you strike the ball. I am about a club length longer and much straighter than I was with my old Tommy Armour starter set.I bought the 5-PW set only, so I can't comment on the other wedges or the hybrids. However the irons I would recommend without reservation to anyone looking to upgrade their equipment, particularly the 15+ handicappers like myself who can benefit most from the GI technology. My friends have taken a few swings with my new Diablo Edge irons and have all raved about the distance and forgiveness on slightly off-center hits.
If you are shopping Burner or Callaway X22 etc, I highly advise you to demo these first. Great clubs!
