You don't use Paracord where you're dangling from it over steep heights. You use it to tie things together, to braid and make lanyards, bracelets and such.
Rope is such a useful tool, it's hard to list all of the uses. Check the Ashley Book of Knots for some ideas.
My purpose in buying this was to make lanyards for things I don't want to lose. Having a decently-sized braid of bright (but not neon) orange attached makes things a lot easier to find.

Great product, eventhough on the picture it says it is a 50ft cord and what actually I received was a 100ft cord.....so....GREAT!!
